SEO stands for “search engine optimization.” In general, it is about making improvements to your website, so that search engines like Google have an easier time finding it, which in turn will help you gain more traffic! SEO efforts affect ONLY the organic search results found on the left side of the page, not to be confused with the paid AdWords portion you see at the top and to the right.
Try to think of SEO as the big umbrella which many on-page and off-page optimization elements fall under. Some of these elements are: performing keyword research, creating and optimizing your page titles and meta descriptions, making sure your site easy to navigate, improving your URL structure, working to earn quality links that are trusted by search engines as well as making sure your site is responsive, mobile friendly, and that your pages are quick to load!
And this list goes on…
I always think of SEO as the foundational elements in which almost everything else is built off of. These foundational elements can ensure that your site is designed to be search engine-friendly from the bottom up.
