- What do I share on Facebook and Twitter?
- What content is good for social media?
- Should I share house listings everyday?
Don’t make the common mistake of sharing all your listings on Facebook and Pinterest. Think of social as a place to have a conversation. No one likes talking (or in this case, seeing) about one subject … on and on. Diversify what you share and talk about. Create real conversations, so those people actually pick up the phone and call you for advice. And don’t worry about having to figure out what to do. Not sure what you should be sharing on social media? We’ve got you covered. Let’s talk about a few ways to improve your social media presence and provide value to your followers!
First off let’s talk about what not to do. One common mistake we see is sharing the same content over and over. For instance, ONLY sharing your listings day-in and day-out.Think of social media as a conversation. It’s hard to have a conversation or relationship with someone who only talks about one topic or constantly tries to sell you something.
So diversify! How exactly?
Share photos! This can be as easy as congratulating your client on their closing, posting photos of community or office events, and even sharing funny memes relevant to your industry. Humor is a great way to foster relationships, so don’t be afraid to share your company’s personality.
Provide industry news. Share links to articles from your blog or from other reliable website with information about topics like the home buying and selling process, financing or home improvement.
Ask questions. Ask your fans a real estate question. Or give them an “either or option”- for example: post a photo collage of two different kitchens and ask which they like best. The sky’s the limit, but stay relevant – don’t ask random questions about puppies or tv shows.
Promote your community. Posting about what there is to do in your community will help relocators get to know their new city and will give locals ideas on how to spend their time. You’re the expert so share your knowledge!
And lastly, share your listings. But not too often. A good rule of thumb is for every 10 posts only 1 or 2 can be a listing. Say something interesting about it. Does it have a large backyard perfect for barbecuing or a stunning gourmet kitchen?
These are just a few ideas to get you started. So get out there and start building some relationships!
